Arran McKenna has made a wonderful contribution to the work of the Australia Pacific Security College over the past year. We engage with multiple stakeholders, across a diverse geographic environment as they work on some of the most complex security challenges that the Pacific region has ever faced. In a COVID world, all of these dialogues and workshops are occurring over online platforms. Arran has the capacity to take these exchanges, distill the complexity, and project it back to the participants through attractive graphics. His skills as as a visual communicator are exceptional ... and fast! His graphics have been used in a variety of our reports, and we noticed they are the first place people turn to when reviewing the documents. Arran’s good humour, flexibility and responsiveness when drafts need to be amended to ensure messages are clearly communicated and contextually accurate are greatly appreciated. We highly recommend Arran’s work - it is sure to increase your impact and reach.
- Professor Meg Keen, Director, Australia Pacific Security College
I had the pleasure of working with Arran as a graphical scribe during a series of conservation workshops designed to gather expert input on complex environmental topics. From the outset, Arran brought genuine enthusiasm to the process – not just through his exceptional drawing skills, but also through his thoughtful contributions to workshop design. He offered creative ideas that elevated the experience for participants, always with professionalism and respect for his role. His live scribing was a standout feature. Capturing conversations in real time, Arran transformed expert insights into compelling visuals that helped participants see their input reflected immediately. This not only deepened participant engagement but also supported a range of learning styles, making the workshops more inclusive and impactful. The outputs from his work were universally well received by government partners, external experts, and community representatives alike. They continue to serve as a valuable resource for ongoing consultation and reflection, helping to shape a critical piece of strategic work. I would highly recommend Arran to anyone seeking a talented, collaborative, and insightful graphical scribe.

What can I say about Arran McKenna except that he is a creative genius. More specifically, he’s a highly skilled graphic illustrator whose passion for what he does shines through his work. He’s detailed-oriented, makes sure that ideas discussed at an event have been captured accurately, while also creative, adding artistic flourishes which really capture the spirit of the conversation as well as the key points. His ability to listen closely and to critically interpret the conversations is clear in his work. His technical skill is rare and attention to detail invaluable. He’s an outstanding creative professional and we love working with him!
